ANDA ZIMAND (BORN BORTAS) 8th January 1954 - 23rd August 2003
Anda was born in Bucarest, Romania, where she had a happy youth even though her father was imprisoned for 8 years only because he was Jewish.
From the age of 10 to 13 Anda lived in Israel and in July 1967 her family moved to Duesseldorf, Germany, where she attended a French-speaking school.
At the age of 16 her father, whom she loved and cherished so much, died of cancer.
Anda had a strong and powerful character with a very positive attitude; she had enthusiasm, courage and determination, always succeeding in reaching her goals.
Anda was beautiful, elegant, vigorous, full of charisma, natural, always smiling and filled with kindness, trying to help others before herself.

All those who met Anda, even for a short time would remain with a lasting impression of strength, humility, dignity, a good sense of humour and a
lovely smile. Anda was an ardent reader, and her love of books continued until her premature and untimely death at the age of 49. Anda opened her own business
as a fashion and publicity stylist and worked with some of the biggest names including Helmut Newton. She traveled worldwide and her love of the arts ranged
from music; classical through jazz and modern music, paintings and sculptures covering a wide range of twentieth-century artists, as well as various arts,
architecture and design. She also enjoyed sports like swimming and diving in exotic places. In her travels she loved to learn about the local history, meet
the people and hear their stories, about their customs and way of life. On a trip to Israel in July 1983 Anda got engaged only 24 hours after meeting her
husband to- be, Henri Zimand. They were married the same year on November 7th.
Anda and Henri enjoyed 20 wonderful and special years together. She was an extraordinary mother and wife, with lots of patience, love and devotion.
Anda was the center and heart of the family, and without her the home will never be the same anymore. Anda left 4 wonderful sons; Syril 19, Ynnan 17, Rene 14, Nessrin 11 1/2 and a heart-broken husband, Henri.
She fought her illness for over 5 years with bravery and an incredible determination,not revealing her pain or illness to others. Anda was truly an "Eshet-Chail".
